Superintendent’s Message

We have experienced a great beginning of the school year. I attribute the excellent start to the quality of our staff. We have an outstanding group of people that serve the students in our schools. I am proud to have the opportunity to work on a daily basis with these individuals.

Earlier in the year, some of the WASL scores for our school district were published. I have included a table below that contains the complete scores for our district. The building column lists the scores for students within the walls of our buildings in Kittitas. The achieve column has scores for the students from across the State of Washington that are enrolled in the Achieve Online program. The district column is a combination of our buildings and Achieve Online scores. The last column is the State of Washington average scores. Results with fewer than 10 students are not shown.

As you can see from the table of scores, our students performed very well on the WASL in many areas. The scores are a result of students giving their best effort on the assessment and teachers providing quality instruction in the classroom. Some of the percentages provide us with signals to focus on certain aspects of our instruction and curriculum. The principals and teachers have identified the areas of strengths and weaknesses to build their professional development and instructional practices for the school year.
